HIT. (
B. Iden Payne Award for Outstanding Original Script in 2003 and an Overall Excellence Award from the 2005 New York International Fringe Festival) An "alternative-alternative family" drama telling the story of two hit men--one now dead--and the child they rescued from an abusive foster home and raised in their own image. On a fateful night, the now grown-up Asher and surviving Wyatt separately accept the same job to kill the same man at the same time & place...but the target doesn't show up. Wyatt and Asher recall the events of their lives that ultimately led them to this night---which may have dire consequences for them both.
Theatre East is committed to discovering new vivid theatrical works and celebrating all forms of theatre. The Neighborhood Reading Series helps us do just that while fostering relationships with playwrights and their work. The Neighborhood Reading Series allows us to expand our horizons even further because it is outside the confines of a full production. In addition, it provides a platform for discussion and community by celebrating plays you may have heard of along with some that might be a bit more obscure or even brand new. Since the readings are free and open to the public, it also aids us in our dedication to the ideal that theatre is not a luxury but should be accessible to everyone, no matter one's economic or social status.
