As part of its Pride Month celebration, Theatre at St. John's and Daniel Neiden Productions are excited to present a new play that interweaves stories of faith and self-discovery. MARC IN VENICE is a unique play that is anything but a typical coming out story. Written and directed by Mark Erson, MARC IN VENICE will begin performances on June 16, 2017 at the Theatre at St. John's (81 Christopher Street) and will run through June 28. Tickets are $15, for performance schedule and tickets go to: marcinvenice.brownpapertickets.com

Set in three different centuries, three different men share a name and a pursuit of the truth - and what it means in their lives. Faith and doubt, adventure and risk, love and courage come into play as a saint wrestles with his call, a great traveler strives to tell his story, and a young man finds himself, all in the romantic city of Venice. MARC IN VENICE is an intense and provocative play that reminds us that truth is still an honorable and worthwhile journey.

Cast includes: Tomás Anderson, Caturah Brown, Francesco Campari*, Howard Collado, Jorge Humberto Hoyos, Ethan Jovanovic, Anita Lento*, Nancy Lindeberg*, Brennan Lowery, Zach Lusk, Michael Ray Martin*, Kevin Stevens (*appears courtesy of AEA)

Playwright Erson shares his inspiration, "The mystique of Venice has always had a grasp on me. When I finally visited the great city, it did not disappoint. A three-day stay turned into seven, because I could not leave. Hearing the histories and the traditions, meeting other travelers, sent my imagination soaring. Another visit with my husband and deeper research filled in the blanks." Erson continues: "I've set MARC IN VENICE in the round. The alleys and courtyards of Venice are a wonderful maze offering discovery around every corner, and the playing area for the play seeks to replicate them while the three stories intersect and collide."

Producer Daniel Neiden says of Erson's play, "While most people try to avoid their hero's journey instead of pursing it, MARC IN VENICE dramatizes this search threefold in Mark Erson's masterfully crafted play. I am inspired by his ingenious weaving together of these compelling, historical stories, and I am looking forward to MARC IN VENICE finding its way to a wider audience."

MARC IN VENICE runs from June 16 - 28th at 8pm. A special Pride Weekend matinee will be offered on Saturday, June 24th at 3 PM. All performances at Theatre at St. John's Lutheran Church at 81 Christopher Street. Tickets are $15, for performance schedule and tickets go to: marcinvenice.brownpapertickets.com
