TheaterWorksUSA Returns to New York with Shows for Young Audiences  Image

For over 50 years TheaterWorksUSA has presented family-friendly adaptations of celebrated books on stages across the country. This fall, TheaterWorksUSA will be offering its trademark brand of quality entertainment in New York as they partner with BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center (199 Chambers St, New York, NY 10007) to present four shows based on beloved children's books Charlotte's Web, Pete the Cat, Dragons Love Tacos & The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System.

CHARLOTTE'S WEB
Saturday, October 6, 2018 @ 11 am

This brand-new production combines inventive staging and bluegrass music to tell E.B. White's loving story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte.

This treasured tale - perfect for the whole family - explores bravery, selfless love and the true meaning of friendship.

Charlotte's Web is adapted by Joseph Robinette with direction and design by Andrew Rasmussen, costume design by Tristan Raines, and original music composed and orchestrated by "Sheriff" Bob Saidenberg, Kat Minogue, and "Deputy" Robert Abrahams. Produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company.

PETE THE CAT

Saturday, November 24 and Saturday, November 25 at 11am

When Pete the Cat gets caught rocking out after bedtime, the cat-catcher sends him to live with the Biddle family to learn his manners -- and boy are they square! But for the groovy blue cat, life is an adventure no matter where you wind up. Based on the Pete the Cat Series of Books by Kimberly and James Dean. Fun for all ages, but especially appreciated by ages 3 to 8.

Pete the Cat has book and lyrics by Sarah Hammond, music by Will Aronson, based on the Pete the Cat series of books by Kimberly and James Dean. It has original direction and choreography by Dan Knechtges with scenic design by Rob Odorisio, costume design by Jen Caprio, and orchestrations by Frank Galgano and Matt Castle.

DRAGONS LOVE TACOS & OTHER STORIES

Five best-selling children's books: Dragons Love Tacos. Interrupting Chicken, Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa School Days,The Dot, and Mercy Watson Goes for a Ride - have been adapted into short musicals by some of today's most exciting musical theater writers! Recommended for ages 4 to 10.

Musical adaptations by Janet Allard, Joe Kinosian, Brian Lowdermilk, Brendon Milburn, Sam Salmond, Mark Sonnenblick, Marcus Stevens and Ben Wexler. Original direction by Marcus Stevens, original choreography by Wendy Seyb, scenic design by Brian Dudkiewicz, costume design by Dustin Cross, and orchestration by Mike Pettry.

MAGIC SCHOOL BUS: LOST IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM

Hop on The Magic School Bus for a ride with Arnold, Ralphie, Carlos, Wanda, Janet - and, of course, Ms. Frizzle and Liz - in this new musical adaptation based on the original book series published by Scholastic When the class gets lost on the way to the planetarium, Ms. Frizzle saves the day by blasting into outer space for an epic interplanetary field trip! But when rivalries both old and new threaten to tear the students apart, our young heroes must learn to pull together or risk getting forever lost in the solar system. Recommended for ages 6 to 12.

The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System has music and lyrics by Matthew Lee Robinson, book by Marshall Pailet, original direction and choreography by Connor Gallagher, scenic design by Jason Sherwood and costume design by Sarah Cubbage.
