Murder! Mayhem! Live Music! TheaterThe's Radio Purgatory is a multi-disciplinary theatrical piece featuring the radio aesthetic of the 1930s and 1940s. A down on his luck detective Dick Flavor finds himself in purgatory and encounters a cast of archetypal radio play misfits forever frustrated by a lexicon of ONLY period vernacular. Flavor attempts to solve his last case namely his own murder but is continually thwarted by slapstick, absurdity and outrageous commercial interruptions. Is there a way out? Sex, violence, live music and product placement share his nightmare.

Radio Purgatory was commissioned and first presented by Dixon Place in New York City with public funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, and the City of New York Department of Cultural Affairs, and with private funds from The Greenwall Foundation, The Peg Santvoord Foundation and the Jerome Foundation.
