ELECTRONIC CITY is a multi-media theatre piece and a romance like none other. Set in the liminal spaces of modernity, the play follows characters Tom and Joy as they seek belonging, connection, and meaning amid transient lives pressured by long-distance travel, instant communication and constant commerce. With New Stage Theatre Company's signature flair for beauty, darkness and humor, the show will explore the isolation and alienation of our image-saturated culture using a dynamic mix of projection, music, movement, and Richter's compelling text.

Creative Team includes: Direction and Production Design: Ildiko Nemeth; Lighting Design: Federico Restrepo; Projection Design: Eric Marciano, Ildiko Nemeth; Costume Design: Brandon Lee Olson.

The cast includes Beth Dodye Bass*, Dana Boll, Adam Boncz (NY Innovative Theatre Award nominee), Kaylin Lee Clinton (NY Innovative Theatre Award nominee), Sofia O.C. (NY Innovative Theatre Award nominee), Brandon Lee Olson* (NY Innovative Theatre Award nominee), and Chris Tanner (NY Innovative Theatre Award nominee) *These actors are appearing courtesy of Actors' Equity Association

The New Stage Theatre Company (NSTC), led by founder and artistic director Ildiko Nemeth, presents original and adapted plays that explore the complexities and universality of human experience. Drawing from the traditions of Eastern European theatre and the artistic backgrounds of a diverse international ensemble, Nemeth combines all artistic elements of production to create arresting work that overcomes limitations of language, customs, and theatrical convention.

Winner of the 2015 New York Innovative Theatre Outstanding Performance Art Production Award for its production of Charles L. Mee's Night, NSTC has for more than a decade built a name for itself as a "daring downtown experimental group" (Backstage) with a flair for the dramatically and visually surreal. In 2012 the Innovative Theatre Awards cited the company's 10th Anniversary as a "story of the year," remarking on NSTC's "unique brand of sophisticated, inspired and startling stage craft."

Past performances have won widespread praise. Paul Berss of New York Theatre Wire called our 2015 performance of Night "an impressive multi-media feast of talk, music, movement, and film ... always unpredictable and engrossing," while Mark Savitt of Hi! Drama lauded "Ildiko Nemeth's direction and conception of highly visual visceral movement based work." In 2014 Aurin Squire of New York Theatre Review raved that our Cosmicomics, inspired by the work of Italo Calvino, "sings with humor and beauty." Of the same production, Joe Meyers wrote in the Connecticut Post: "The impossible-to-categorize director-writer-designer-filmmaker Ildiko Nemeth is back with another one of her funny and visually stunning stage pieces. The theater artist is second to none in terms of the images she creates and the moods she spins with her ruminations on a wide variety of topics and themes." As playwright and critic Ed Malin has put it, "Nemeth creates experiences that mix theater, dance, cabaret and performance art... She presents gripping scenes and striking tableaux that stay with you for days."?
