After a sold-out run last November, Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Executive Director) is proud to present, back by popular demand, ONLY LOVE WILL DO - A GayStraigt RomCom, written by Walt Stepp (Lightin' Out-A Mark Twain Musical, Why We Shot Jack-The Conspirators' Drama), from April 14th thru May 1st. Lissa Moira once again directs this Freudian Fandango of gay/straight romantic dramedy/sexploration.

Two parallel erudite Manhattan couples, one gay, one straight, each of whom have been together for over 20 years (who also have a long-standing friendship with one another) are in a similar fix. Handsome Brad loves his sweet William, but he has a wandering eye. William has eyes only for Brad & a powerful desire for him to dine at home a lot more often. Ev loves his luscious Liz; Liz loves him back, but she has Daddy issues & finds her Ev an emotional cold zone & finds a succession of gorgeous young men to keep her warm. Enter an emotionally bruised, recently returned veteran of the Iraq War, who is working as an NYC Cabbie. Ev gets into his taxi on his way to join Liz & his friends for dinner& finds himself on the ride of his life & an adventure that punches a hole in the consciousness of these four people. The barbed wire wit & the wine flow freely as the simmering war of the sexes (same & opposite) heats up & we all find out that when engaging in the seriously funny game of "Relationship Roulette," it's important to accept no substitutes for ONLY LOVE WILL DO.

Featured in this AEA Approved Showcase Production are Danny Ashkenasi,* Louisa Bradshaw,* Jason Collins,* Robert Homeyer & Richard O'Brien. David "Zen" Mansley does the Set Design & William Giraldo does the Lighting Design.

Danny Ashkenasi (William) is an internationally-known theatre & film actor who toured his one-man, four-puppet drama Uncle Arthur in the USA, Malaysia & Australia. He was featured in the German film Kraftprobe & the mini-series "Rote Erde." He is also an ASCAP & Fringe Award-winning composer. Louisa Bradshaw (Liz) has a career as an actress & chanteuse that spans the globe. She starred in her own show at the premier Berlin cabaret & varieté venues, BarJeder Vernuff & the Chameleon. In NYC she worked with TONY Award-winning director/choreographer George Faison on If This Hat Could Talk & recently starred as the Countess Analise in the Lissa Moira/Richard West production, Who Murdered Love? Jason Collins (Brad) has a rich & varied career in the US & around the World. In March, 2010, he was cited by the New York Times as "The most compelling actor on stage," in Off-Broadway's Signs of Life. He has received 3 separate Footlight Awards & toured Asia with the World Premiere of The Wedding Banquet, adapted from the Ang Lee film & originated the role of Dan in next to normal opposite Amy Spanger. Robert Homeyer (The Cabbie) reprised his remarkable turn as Bob Cratchit in the TNC, David "Zen" Mansley designed A Christmas Carol this past December & is slated to star in Age Out (written by Tom Diriwachter) in 2011. Richard O'Brien (Ev), a subtle, nuanced NY Actor, is a favorite of Director Moira's. He played Sigmund Freud in the production Cocaine Dreams (written by Howard Pflanzer) that she directed at the Kraine Theater & opposite Ms. Moira in her own Time It Is.
Lissa Moira (Director) (Longing, Cocaine Dreams) is also a well-known playwright (Before God Was Invented, Time It Is) & the co-writer of Dead Canaries, a feature film starring Charles Durning, Dan Luria, Dee Wallace-Stone & Joel Higgins. She is a Susan Smith Blackburn Nominee, OOBR Award Winner & a 2-time Jerome Foundation Grantee. Look for Lissa & Richard West's DaDa noir musical comedy, Who Murdered Love? Off-Broadway later this year.
"It's a great joy when reviewing an Off-Off-Broadway play to discover both a great new playwright and a brilliant ensemble of actors. 'Only Love Will Do" offers all that and more in unspeakable abundance."
