The Theory of Everything is proud to present MANON/SANDRA as part of the 14th Annual New York International Fringe Festival-FringeNYC. This two-hander written by Michel Tremblay & directed by Pia Furtado, is reinvented by a multi-disciplinary London-based company of International Artists hailing from Australia, the USA, Korea & the UK; an international collaboration between artists who met in New York in 2008.

MANON/SANDRA is an intricate construction of interwoven monologues from two unlikely souls who are frozen in an unacknowledged tryst: a Catholic woman devoted to God & a transvestite dedicated to sex. Manon is so consumed with worshipping, that she does not realize that the flamboyant transvestite who has moved into the area (Sandra) is actually her childhood soulmate, Michel, who has returned to watch over her. Terrified by rejection, Sandra is frozen; unable to approach, unable to move on.

Fusing different disciplines, including dynamic, viewpoints-inspired physicality & live music & video, MANON/SANDRA tells the tale of blind faith, loneliness & missed opportunities.

The cast includes Australian actor Tina Mitchell & Fringe ‘09 Best Actor Award winner Ken Barnett.

Director Pia Furtado has worked extensively in Opera & Theatre in the UK & abroad, for companies such as The Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Opera House, English National Opera & Opera North. Set & Lighting Design is by Korean born Ji-youn Chang & live music is composed in collaboration with US musicians Matt O'Hare & Helen Yee, supported by UK based Sound Designer Christoph Bauschinger.
