As of May 31st, 2011, The Tank will be leaving the 45th Street Theater, its home for the past 2 1/2 years. As much as we love the area, and as much as we've made a home in the space, we can't afford to have our rent doubled. So, it's time to hit the road.

Fortunately, this is nothing new to The Tank, which has successfully moved several times over the past 8 years. We're in talks with several locations about becoming our new home. What we do know:
We'll continue our unique approach to supporting creative, risk-taking work across disciplines
We'll stay in Manhattan, giving emerging artists the exposure they deserve to mainstream audiences, media and other professionals in the creative community.

Our next move won't be short-term. We're looking for a 5-10 year lease. So while we may bounce through a transitional space this summer, by fall, we'll be staying put.

To make this move work, we're asking our community of artists, audience, volunteers and supporters for help.

Know a place we should move? If you know a theater looking for a resident, a great empty space in need of a tenant, or an arts community in search of a roommate, send the lead our way. We're looking for a Manhattan space with a capacity of at least 74, evening access to the public, wheelchair accessibility and no noise issues with residential neighbors.

Stay involved! The scariest part about moving is worrying that we'll leave someone behind. Stay on our email list, keep coming to shows, and keep spreading the word that The Tank will continue its dynamic schedule of programming.

Come say farewell to 45th Street. Catch a show in our busy schedule over the next 3 months. Join us for our House-Cooling Party (TBA). Help us clear out our gear and get ready to move. Or just come by and say hi.

Last of all, thank you for your continued support!
