Since 1993, Abingdon Theatre Company has developed and produced new plays by American Playwrights exclusively. Our actors, directors, designers, producers and dramaturgs have collaborated with more than 200 playwrights to develop original plays.

Under the artistic direction of Jan Buttram, the company provides a safe home in which playwrights collaborate with other theatre artists and receive audience feedback through the utilization of our four-step development process: First Readings, Staged Readings, and Workout Labs, which culminate in Studio Productions and Mainstage Productions.

A Baroque Farce

His household is awhirl in frantic anticipation of the grand arrival, as Bach's wife, daughter, sons, maid, apprentices, and other characters dash in and out, repeatedly interrupting the Maestro at work. But where will all the harpsichords come from? And can anyone keep the characters straight? From the writer and director Ron Hirsen and Joe Grafasi who brought you The Frugal Repast produced at Abingdon Theatre Company in 2007.
