Last year "Mister Brook" lay with Mistress Ford, but today lies in the ground, leaving a very Merry (and rich) Widow behind.
TURN TO FLESH PRODUCTIONS (TTF) will hold a private industry reading of THE MERRY WIDOWS OF WINDSOR by Emily C.A. Snyder as directed by Aliza Shane and produced by Chris Rivera on Thursday, February 22nd at 8 pm in Studio C at The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture. Snyder flexes her impressive Shakespearean homage chops (last seen in Snyder's COMEDY OF HEIRORS, listed as one of the Top 15 Shows in 2017 by A Work Unfinishing) in this laugh-a-line exploration of the effect of age and freedom on Shakespeare's beloved Merry Wives of Windsor.
When some very eligible men (including a bastard prince) come to Windsor in the wake of the events of St. Crispin's Day, the newly 'available' women of the town explore the limits of society's expectations vs. their potential newfound freedoms. From the wealthy Widow Ford to the miraculously recovered Doll Tearsheet, all of Windsor is in transition (and Dogberry and Verges are eager to add to the upheaval). Relevant enough to prompt gasps mid belly-laugh, this will be a comedy you won't want to miss!
