The Common Tongue is proud to present the World Premiere of WHAT THE SPARROW SAID, by Danny Mitarotondo, as part of the 15th annual New York International Fringe Festival.

WHAT THE SPARROW SAID will be performed at Teatro La Tea (107 Suffolk Street).

Directed by Jenna Worsham (Named), WHAT THE SPARROW SAID has been developed in stages at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Columbia University with Anne Bogart, in a TCT-produced run at The Ars Nova Building, and Theatre for the New City. The play is a tragicomedy about two estranged brothers trying to find answers from a world that only asks more questions. When the two brothers reunite after years apart, they are finally forced to confront the meaning of family.

WHAT THE SPARROW SAID features Brenda Currin* (The Threepenny Opera, Reds), Lila Dupree (Named), Matthew Michael Hurley*, Kevin Mannering (Our Town, Williamstown), Heather Oakley and Ruby Ruiz*, with set design by Daniel A. Krause, lighting design by Jamie Roderick, dramaturgy by Jay Jaski, stage management by Ellen Mezzera and assistant stage management by Alyssa Joy Olson*.

Graphic Design is by Houston Kraft. Photography is by Suzi Sadler. Producers are Lila Dupree, Danny Mitarotondo and Alona Fogel.

Since The Common Tongue's inception in 2008 the company has collaborated with Edward Albee, Kathleen Butler, Marian Seldes, John Shea, Lucy Thurber, Angelica Torn, Wendy MacLeod, Tom Cudworth, members of The Actor's Studio and LAByrinth and mentors from the Atlantic Theater Company. At the heart of TCT's work are the cornerstones of process, collaboration and mentorship.
