The Civilians (Steven Cosson, Artistic Director), the award-winning New York-based theatre company known for projects investigating real life topics, presents Let Me Ascertain You: Canard, Canard, Goose, a one-night-only cabaret performance at Joe's Pub on June 10, 2011 at 9:30 PM. The Civilians' is closing out its popular Joe's Pub cabaret series and tenth anniversary season by revisiting its very first show. In 2002, The Civilians left New York City to pursue a story about a Hollywood movie and a lost flock of carelessly imprinted geese. The result was an eclectic show about disorientation, misplaced empathy and coming home that Time Out New York called "sublimely silly and shameless." Be the first to experience this material since its smash-hit premiere in 2002 in an evening that promises to be thought-provoking (and funny), politically-charged (or cheeky), and sincere (if cynical).

Performers: Aysan Celik (Charlotte's Web, Two River Theater Company), Matthew Dellapina (The Dream of the Burning Boy, Roundabout Theatre Company), Greg McFadden (Timon of Athens, Public LAB), Jennifer R. Morris (Leaving, The Wilma Theater), Brandon Miller (A Devil at Noon, Humana Festival), Caitlin Miller (The Civilians' Tales from My Parents' Divorce), Maria Elena Ramirez (Broadway: Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson)

Gone Missing ran for seven months at Off-Broadway's Barrow Street Theater and was cited by The New York Times as one of the "10 Best Plays of 2007." The Civilians received an Obie in 2004 in recognition of its accomplishments in its first two seasons of work.

In addition to Let Me Ascertain You, The Civilians is deeply involved in its new works, The Great Immensity, a play with music using a fictional narrative to talk about the environment and the future of our planet, which will have its world premiere at Kansas City Repertory Theatre in the 2011-12 season, and Pretty Filthy a new musical examination of the adult entertainment industry. The Civilians' Tales from My Parents' Divorce will be at Williamstown Theatre Festival in August.
