The Center at West Park and Pickled Dog Productions Present THE RECRUITING OFFICER Image

In this hilarious restoration comedy, a British Captain comes to a small town to raise recruits only to fall desperately in love with the daughter of a local country Justice. Farquhar brings a whole new level to the metaphor of love as war with scintillating dialogue, seductive strategizing, and even sword fighting! The ensemble cast will lead the audience through the play's intricate twists and turns as we ride through the rollercoaster of love, schemes, and inheritances.

Come join our contemporary American reimagining of George Farquhar's scarcely-performed "THE RECRUITING OFFICER" at The Balcony Theater at The Center at West Park

PICKLED DOG PRODUCTIONS
We, as recently graduated theatre artists, are taking our extensive education to the New York stage with a dynamic production of The Recruiting Officer by George Farquhar. We want to bring classical comedic theatre to an intimate New York space while responding to the age we have found ourselves in. High quality, affordable theatre that is broadly accessible is integral to a thriving culture. We want to give audiences a rambunctious night of theatre while adding to the ongoing conversation about the rifts within our country.

All of the actors and designers working on this production are recent college graduates who have received degrees in theatrical performance, design, and direction. Some of the productions our coalition of artists have directed, designed, and acted in are Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge, Thornton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth, Maria Irene Fornes's Mud, Jenny Schwartz's God's Ear, and Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale and Macbeth, as well as several original plays.
