The Society of the Educational Arts, Inc./Teatro SEA and CEO & Artistic Director, Dr. Manuel A. Morán, are excited to announce the Fall/Winter 2018 SEAson, kicking off on Friday, 2nd November. After an exciting summer of family-friendly performances and events, during which we celebrated the success of our inaugural International Puppet Fringe Festival, we welcome audiences of all ages to enjoy our upcoming SEAson shows and events!
The SEAson opens with the 13th annual BORIMIX - NYC's Latinx cultural landmark event - which features an array of events that include panels, films, theatre, and visual arts. These events highlight the impact of Puerto Rican identity, arts & culture within the City, Nation, and Hemisphere as it intersects with other Latinx identities. This year, BORIMIX honors Colombia and its rich legacy of cultural contributions.
For our theater offerings throughout the SEAson, we are proud to present"My Magical Chivita, The Colorful Colombian Bus / Mi Chivita Mágica"- a mesmerizing family-friendly play that engages audiences with traditional Colombian songs, dances, and stories. We will also be presenting MICROTHEATER, which is a a varied collection of short works performed in very intimate spaces, making for a remarkably special and unique NYC theater experience. Rounding out the holidays will be SEA's acclaimed Three Kings Day / Día de los Reyes celebration in which we invite families to come out and enjoy live music, snacks, and gifts for children on a first come first served basis!
BORIMIX
Opening Night - November 2 at 6:30pm
BORIMIX takes place citywide and highlights the impact of the community on the arts and cultural life of the City, Nation, and Hemisphere. It has grown, organically, into an authentically New York expression of cultural mixing and urban arts fusion. Composed of more than twenty events in visual arts, theatre, spoken word, film, and roundtable or panel discussions, the past several festivals have seen us organize over 25 events and reach more than 10,000 during the Festival month. We have managed this success by convening a collaboration of 30 Latinx cultural organizations to make diverse offerings that address important themes and issues for the artistic and cultural vibrancy of the citywide community.
