In a race against time, men and women are left frantically searching high and low to find the perfect mate, aided by technology and swiping left or right, perfectly datable people are put through the ringer as they spin the relationship roulette wheel with the hopes of not landing on a sociopath. Tinder Roulette: A Musical Memoir is written and performed by Mel DeLancey, directed by Bryan Enk with musical direction by Norma Jeanne Curley, will play at the 13th Street Rep (50 West 13th Street) beginning October 2 and opening on October 10 through October 24. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by visiting tinderrouletteshow.com.

After digitally organizing over 150 of her own live tinder dates, Mel DeLancey created Tinder Roulette: A Musical Memoir, the autobiographical musical revue that tells her very personal and comic tale with relationships. As a daughter of two compulsive gamblers and the result of an eccentric and alcohol-fueled marriage she shares (or possibly overshares) intimate anecdotes of her unconventional childhood which lead her to an eccentric and alcohol-fueled failed marriage and her more recent internet dating life which regularly crosses over into the surreal. Her outlandish tales are highlighted by personalized renditions of classic musical theater songs from shows including: Fiddler on The Roof, Camelot, Guys & Dolls, and Sweet Charity.

Who's Who:

Mel DeLancey (Writer, Performer) ... or Melissa DeLancey if you absolutely must... is a full time independent personal trainer who has lived in Manhattan since 1997. She studied musical theater at New York University, where she earned her bachelors degree in music. For the last 15 years she has been performing on the smaller stages of downtown Manhattan and Williamsburg with many independent theater groups, most recently Dysfunctional Theatre and Gemini CollisionWorks. This past summer she created a weekly musical theater tribute performance series called I Heart Showtunes as part of an artist residency with Dysfunctional Theatre on Governor's Island. Her favorite theatrical endeavor was 5 years spent with the sketch comedy group Slightly Known People. The 5-member team was responsible for writing, directing, performing, and producing all of its own material. In addition to many "one off" shows and videos, the group hosted a sold-out weekly show at the popular alternative comedy venue, RiFiFi, in the East Village, which ran for more than 150 performances. Through the years the independent theater scene has been an emotional haven and wonderful social circle for Mel, but the musical opportunities have been limited. When she got divorced in 2013, Mel knew that she had to reclaim the part of her that had been singing silently for nearly 9 years. And so Tinder Roulette was born.

Bryan Enk (Director) is thrilled to be working with Mel DeLancey, his friend and colleague of 15 years and counting. An Ohio native who recently returned to NYC after a three-year sabbatical in Los Angeles, Bryan is the co-creator of Penny Dreadful, the highly acclaimed 12-part supernatural stage serial that performed at The Brick Theater in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (2007-2009). Other stage directing credits include last summer's Over (FringeNYC), Dangerous Liaisons (Abingdon Theatre); Glengarry Glen Ross, Love Letters, Cowboy Mouth (Joe E. Brown Theatre); Talk Radio, A Poster of the Cosmos (Elsewhere Theatre). His films as director include The Big Bad (currently available on Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, etc.); Macbeth; Midnight Days; and, most recently, The Passion of Paul Ross.

Norma Jeanne Curley (Musical Director) Norma Jeanne's career highlights consist of touring with Deborah Kerr in a play, "The Last Of Mrs. Cheney", and with John Raitt in three summer stock musical comedies (including "The Pajama Game"). Norma understudied two roles in "The Club", directed by Tommy Tune. She also became musical director for the final two year Off Broadway run of "Nunsense". She has musical directed in regional and summer stock theatre, enjoying ten years at the historic Depot Theatre in Westport, New York. Children's theatre includes musical directing several shows for Theatreworks USA during the 1980's. Summer of 2007, she was a member of the Art Of Cabaret workshop faculty at Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Presently, Norma is happy to be a member of the Musical Theatre faculty at AMDA (The American Musical and Dramatic Academy). Also, she is musical director for Time To Shine youth cabaret, produced and directed by Leorah Haberfield. 17 gratifying years as a 92Y Music faculty member have been filled with great "standards" and Broadway tunes.
