TIC TAC TOE the3some by Joselo Arroyo, adapted by Edna Lee Figueroa, and directed by Gerardo Gudiño comes to Teatro SEA this weekend.
When you think about immigration certainly the word "comedy" wouldn't come to mind, much less the adjective "relaxed", especially during these political times, yet TIC TAC TOE the3some by Joselo Arroyo is a very relaxed comedy about immigration and online dating.
Meet "Tom" played by Michael Lloret, "Tim" played by Joe Quick, and "Tash" played by Edna Lee Figueroa, directed by Gerardo Gudiño; during 15 minutes they will make you relax while reflecting while laughing while getting a bit excited; maybe?
Microtheater is a theatrical format, which consists in the representation of a micro play that lasts about 15-20 minutes, for a maximum of 15 spectators at a time, presented in a small alternative space. There will be 5 plays running simultaneously with a few minutes of difference between them. Each play will be performed 5 times per evening for 3 nights this weekend of November 17-19, 2017 starting at 8pm.
Immigration, in all its forms and variants, is the theme for this third edition of Teatro SEA's MicroTheaterNY. The five plays in this edition's lineup are TIC TAC TOE the3some, Foreing & Domestic (both performed in English), and in Spanish: Acuérdate de mí, Buscando el norte and El último selfie.
This edition of MicroTheaterNY is part of BORIMIX which it began in 2005 as a month long gathering during November-Puerto Rican Heritage Month -of the tropical island's diaspora artists, and most events took place at The Clemente. Now BORIMIX takes place citywide and highlights the impact of the community on the arts and cultural life of the City, Nation, and Hemisphere. It has grown, organically, into an authentically New York expression of cultural mixing and urban arts fusion. Composed of more than twenty events in visual arts, theatre, spoken word, film, and round-table or panel discussions it's a collaboration of 30 Latino/Hispanic cultural organizations who make diverse offerings that address important themes and issues for the artistic and cultural vibrancy of the citywide community. This year's BORIMIX is a celebration in solidarity of Puerto Rico and Mexico.
