THML Theatre Company Presents The NYC Premiere Of THE OWL GIRL By Monica Raymond  Image

THML Theatre Company will open its spring season, 'Opening Doors, Closing the Gap,' with the New York City premiere of The Owl Girl by Monica Raymond. The production will run from February 28th-March 20th as part of the Theater Artist Residency Program at The Center at West Park.

The Owl Girl takes place in a newly re-imagined Middle East, where two families with keys to the same house try to live in it together, with unexpected consequences. The Owl Girl has received awards from the Castillo Theater, Peacewriting, Portland (Maine) Stage, and was featured by the Jewish Plays Project in 2015. It was also nominated for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for best play in English by a woman. Playwright Monica Raymond is a Mass Cultural Council Fellow in Dramatic Writing, MacDowell Colony Fellow, and former Jerome Fellow at the Playwrights' Center.

The Owl Girl is directed by Bryna Kearney (Our Own Odyssey) and features performances by Allison Akmajian (The Merchant of Venice), Julian Alexander*(Blue Bloods), Sharlene Hartman* (The Juliana Project), Dante Jayce (Hamlet), Mariam Jibladze (High School Musical Jr.), Robert Resnikoff* (Small World), Yaara Shilony (aciremA), and Flavia Zaguini (The Colorful World of Dalton). The creative team also includes Christina Gombola (F*cked Up Fairy Tales) as stage manager, Jennifer Cooper as technical director (Valer, Trial), Jessica McHugh as costume designer, and Madison Bailey as assistant stage manager/director.
