THE WHITE CASTLE by ANDERSON JOHN HEINZ has been selected from nearly 1,500 submissions to be a finalist in the Samuel French's 40h Annual Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival (OOB) in New York City this summer. THE WHITE CASTLE is produced by SARA DEVINEY AND SAMUEL FRENCH OFF OFF BROADWAY SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL and will be presented on August 4th at the East 13th Street Theater (Classic Stage Company, 136 East 13th Street, NYC). THE WHITE CASTLE is one of 30 plays presented during the week-long event. At the end of which, Samuel French's editorial staff will select six titles for publication and licensing.

"The White Castle is a play about a family in the South. There was an oddly small, almost comically out-of-place house situated awkwardly in the middle of the neighborhood I grew up in, and I was always struck by it. I never met the family that lived there, but I wrote a play about them." -Anderson John Heinz

About Samuel French OOB Short Play Festival:

Originating in 1975, the Festival is New York's oldest, continuous short play festival and has attracted submissions from not only the U.S., but international dramatists as well (Canada, Singapore, the United Kingdom, etc.). The OOB Festival is unique in that it requires applicants to collaborate with a producing organizing or to self-produce their work. Additionally, the winning plays are published in Samuel French's acclaimed OFF OFF BROADWAY FESTIVAL PLAYS series and licensed to theatre producers around the world. The Festival Week consists of eight performance sessions in which three or four scripts are presented in front of a judging panel comprised of theatre industry professionals, including artistic directors and major playwrights. At the end of each session, the judges deliberate and one or two plays are selected to move on to the Festival Finals.

The 40th Annual Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival will run August 3-9 at the East 13th Street Theater (Classic Stage Company, 136 East 13th Street, NYC).
