Richard Jennings' seven minute pop-opera, The Temptation Of Tim, will have it's New York premiere in the Harvest Theatre Festival starting today, November 8th. Variations Theatre Group is presenting two weeks of exciting new work at the brand new Chain Theatre in Long Island City, Queens.

The Temptation Of Tim is a 7 minute Pop-Opera about Tim Berners-Lee and the creation of the World Wide Web. It was conceived as a black box stage play for two actors performing to recorded accompaniment. The music is composed in 80's pop synth style. You may remember that Tim Berners-Lee was featured and honored in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics. His tweet "This is for everyone", embodies the spirit of this modern day hero who made the world a better place.

The Temptation Of Tim story is set at the moment of creation of the World Wide Web. It's creator,Tim Berners-Lee, struggles to find the last two keystrokes (// and #) to complete his HTML language. As his frustration rises, the Devil appears in the form of a seductress to tempt him with the information he seeks in exchange for her control of W3. She promises riches and fame, yet in a mighty battle of wits, Tim insists that W3 is "for everyone, for free". Good and evil fight mightily for control of what will become one of the biggest innovations of humankind, You'll have to see it to learn how it turns out. Just know, a lot happens in seven minutes!

The New York production is directed by Alex Perez. The cast features New York favorites Priscila Bellia as the Devil and BrenDan Joel Bartlett as Tim Berners-Lee. Russ Jennings is the production manager.

Richard Jennings' music has been heard by millions around the world. He is an award winning composer with credits for network TV, PBS, documentaries, music for Tony Award winning theaters and over thirty productions of Shakespeare. His catalogue of original musicals have been produced extensively on the West Coast. He lives in Berkeley, California. On writing and composing The Temptation Of Tim, Jennings says: "I've been itching to compose music in a retro pop-synth style for some time. Most of my projects call for other specific styles. When the story of Tim started coming to me, I was like a kid in a candy shop. My head was swirling with square and sawtooth waves. Devilish images danced in my mind. When I emerged, I had an epic story of a hero and a sonic world I needed to share."

The Temptation Of Tim Harvest Theatre Festival performances are today, Nov. 8th-7:00, Sat. Nov. 10th- 9:00, Mon. Nov. 12th-9:00 at the Chain Theatre 21-28 45th Road, Long Island City. A half block away from the Court Square/Ely Subway Station.
