THE SEAGULL and FOOL FOR LOVE Featured in Harbor Stage Company's 2013 Season, 6/20-9/7

The Harbor Stage Company, the artist-run ensemble that produces intrepid, live performance on Well?eet Harbor, is very proud to announce their second season of professional theater.

The season will open June 20th with the company's take on Anton Chekhov's beloved classic,
The Seagull. An achingly human investigation of art, love, and the struggle to endure, the play examines the lives and liaisons of a group of family friends on holiday at a lakeside estate. Adapted & directed by Artistic Director Robert Kropf (Hedda Gabler), the production promises to revisit the intimate, authentic aesthetic that won the company critical and community praise in their inaugural season. The Seagull will run through July 13th.

Next up will be the world premiere of The Billingsgate Project, an original play devised in conjunction with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Harbor's hometown. Juxtaposing real episodes from Well?eet history with issues of contemporary concern, the piece will offer a surreal, compassionate look at a town's attempts to recreate the past and forecast the future. Developed with the generous support of the Arts Federation of Cape Cod and the Well?eet Cultural Council, the play is being penned by company member Brenda Withers (The Ding Dongs). According to Artistic Associate Jonathan Fielding, "Crafting a piece rooted in the Outer Cape is a chance for us to celebrate a community that's given so much to all of us." The Billingsgate Project will run July 18th through August 10th.

Closing out the summer will be Sam Shepard's tempestuous drama, Fool for Love, directed by acclaimed theater artist and Well?eet legend, Jeff Zinn. Set in a run-down motel room on the edge of the Mojave desert, the play chronicles the wild clash of a pair of lovers locked in a cycle of passionate selfdestruction. According to Kropf, Zinn was the clear choice to helm the project, having directed and acted in over three dozen plays at the Harbor, beginning with Shepard's Lie of the Mind in 1987. "Anyone who's worked with Jeff understands how invaluable he is to the artistic process. In his own quiet way, he relaxes the room and raises its integrity. This project is a natural continuation of our work together." Fool for Love opens August 15th and runs through September 7th.

In keeping with the company's mission to present great plays at affordable prices for the right reason, single tickets to performances will remain priced at $20. Three-play Subscriptions are available for $55, and the group will once again host a pay-what-you-can night on the First Friday of each production's run.
