THE GENIUS! Receives Reading At Atlantic Stage 2 12/19

Lorraine Rodríguez-Reyes, in association with the East 3RD Productions, will present a staged reading of Daniel Mitura's THE GENIUS! on Monday, December 19 at 8:00pm at Atlantic Stage 2 (330 West 16th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). THE GENIUS! follows the rise of a young artist in Paris in the 1920s as he discovers surrealism and meets the girl of his dreams. A romance that shuttles between the Spanish countryside and the Parisian metropolis, it is an imaginative depiction of the artist's juggling of fame, fortune, love and inspiration.

Directed by Francisco Solorzano, the cast of THE GENIUS! reading will include Christina Broccolini, Vayu O'Donnell, Mickey Solis, Lorraine Rodríguez-Reyes, Daniel Mitura, Josh Breslow, Alejandro Rodriguez and Jonathan Libman.

Lorraine Rodriguez-Reyes' production credits include: Associate Producer for "CAPICU" (Best Short at the Poconos Film Festival), Associate Producer for RISING SUN FALLING Star (78th St Theatre Lab) and The Room (Howl Theatre Festival, NYC). As an actor she has appeared at the Cherry Lane, Columbia Stages (Columbia University), Theatre Row Theatres, the A.R.T. and The Moscow Art Theater. Film: The Stick Up Kids and Willets Point. Ms. Rodriguez-Reyes has been seen on HBO's The Sopranos, ABC's Primetime Negligent Nanny, and the Discovery Learning Channel Cookin in Brooklyn. She joined East 3RD Productions in 2008 as Producer for their first main-stage show, THE WEIRD SISTERS, and has gone on to become Managing Director. She has produced all of East 3rd's theatrical and cinematic productions as well as starring in the second main-stage production, A BICYCLE COUNTRY, at Theatre Row Theatres. Lorraine is also a member of Barefoot Theatre Company.

Francisco Solorzano most notably directed and adapted the Off –Broadway, stage adaptation of DOG DAY AFTERNOON as well as collaborating with award winning playwright, Israel Horovitz on many of his plays including some world premieres. Also directed the Award Winning, DE DONDE?; Revival of Pintauro's RAFT OF THE MEDUSA (Cherry Lane Theatre) and the new play, F**KING VIGWAN by Kristoffer Diaz (Cherry Lane Theatre). Acting Credits Include: WATER ENGINE (Edinburgh Fringe Festival); SINS OF THE MOTHER (GSC, Florida Stage); BEIRUT ROCKS (Ensemble Studio Theatre); WHAT STRONG FENCES MAKE (LAByrinth Theater Company, Boston Theatre Marathon); NY Premiere of BICYCLE COUNTRY (Theatre Row Theatres); Executive producer of the 70/70 HOROVITZ PROJECT (a worldwide, year-long festival celebrating Israel Horovitz's 70th Birthday with 70 of his plays.) Co-Founder of BAREFOOT STUDIO PICTURES with Christopher Whalen (several projects in the works). Film: And The World Goes Round (2009's Cannes Short Film Corner), Love Simple (HBO NYC Latino Film Festival) and Between Something and Nothing (NYC's 20th anniversary NEW FEST Film Festival.) BFA: CUNY'S Brooklyn College; a founder and Producing Artistic Director of the Barefoot Theatre Company since 1999.

Daniel Mitura is an actor, writer, and recent graduate of Columbia University (BA in Art History). His credits include THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY at Theatre Row (Kirk Theater) (director Henning Hegland). He has written comedy sketches for the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (NYC), and the libretto to the musical PLAN B (music by Rebecca Greenstein). Other works include: LOCKER ROOM TALK (directed by Kristjan Thor) at the Cherry Lane Theater, and UNEXPECTEDLY DANCING IN BOISE (directed by Molly Braverman) at the Producer's Club Theater.

Vayu O'Donnell was recently seen on Broadway in MAN AND BOY (Roundabout), other credits include: DESPERATE WRITERS (Union Sq. Theater), TALES FROM THE TUNNEL (Bleeker St. Theater) and Daniel Mitura's THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY.

Christina Broccolini's credits include co-starring in the Lifetime cable telefilm "A Perfect Teacher," her stage credits include: IN PIZZA SAN DOMENICO and Daniel Mitura's THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY.

Mickey Solis's credits include AN ORESTEIA (Classic Stage Company) and WHITE PEOPLE (Ensemble Studio Theatre).

Alejandro Rodriguez's recent credits include GHETTO BABYLON (Soho Playhouse) and ROMEO AND JULIET (The Acting Company and The Guthrie).

Josh Breslow most recently appeared in the critically acclaimed, viral short film, ZOMBIE IN A PENGUIN SUIT, and the critically acclaimed web series BLOOD LIGHT, LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS.

Jonathan Libman made his Off-Broadway debut in Tracy Letts' BUG (Barrow Street), other credits include Miguel Pinero's SHORT EYES (The Shop Theater).
