TADA! Youth Theater Set for DANCE-A-THON & Theatre Camps this Summer

TADA! YOUTH THEATER, the Drama Desk and Coming Up Taller Award-winning organization, is gearing up for a hot summer in the city. First is the June 2nd kid-fueled Dance-A-Thon, then two 1-Day Camps on June 7 and July 2 and new for 2012 2-week mini camps for ages 4 and 5, as well as, week-long camps for ages 6-14.

The second annual kid-fueled fundraising Dance-A-Thon for TADA! is on June 2nd from 5-8pm. The kids get sponsors, bring friends and have a blast! It’s 150 minutes of dancing to a Professional DJ to raise money for TADA! programming. This FREE event is open to kids in grades 1-12, a great introduction to philanthropy and intended to be a great party.

When school is out and parents have to work, TADA! is always in. Spend NYC DOE Chancellor’s day on June 7 and celebrate the Independence Day and summer through acting, singing, and dancing through theater games, improve, and dramatic play. June 7 and/or July 2nd 9am-5:30pm, $100, for grades 1-5.

New for 2012 is the 2-week mini-camps for younger children (ages 4 and 5). Camps takes place Monday-Friday 9:30am-12:00pm. The new half-day Musical Theater Mini Camp program is for kids entering Pre-K and K, runs for two weeks and culminates in a final sharing on the last day--
giving even younger singers and dancers the chance to participate. July 9-20 camp is sold out, additional camp added July 23 – August 3. All campers must be potty-trained.

Mini thespians ages 6-8 and 9-14 enjoy TADA!’s popular week-long summer camps in musical theater. Create and perform a mini-musical...in just five days with Professional Teaching Artists directing scenes and musical numbers from original TADA! musicals and Broadway/Off-Broadway shows. Each week has a new theme from Broadway Bieber to TADA!'s Got Talent to "Gleek" Out! and sure to be a lifetime of memories for the performers. All July campers will attend a performance of TADA!’s mainstage show “Everything About School (Almost)” for free.

Since 1984, TADA! Youth Theater has been providing young people of all different backgrounds the opportunity to explore and perform musical theater together in an educational, supportive and professional environment. TADA! has received many honors and awards including the American Alliance for Theater Education’s Anne Flagg Multicultural Award, Family Circle Magazine’s 1st Annual Halo Award, and more than a dozen National Youth Theatre Awards. Additionally, in 2008 TADA! was honored with a Coming Up Taller Award, our nation’s highest honor for youth development from the President's Committee on the Arts & Humanities, and in 2009 with a Special Drama Desk Award for "providing an invaluable contribution to the future of the theater.” TADA! is the only youth theater to have won this prestigious award.

Every year, TADA! produces: original musical Theater Productions performed by kids for family audiences; a discounted ticket program; free pre-professional training and youth development opportunities through the Resident Youth Ensemble composed of over 80 NYC kids ages 8-18; renowned Arts Education in-school residencies and after-school programs; and theater classes and camps for kids of all ages taught by professional teaching artists and for which need-based financial aid is readily available.
