T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre presents Martin McDonagh's acclaimed play THE PILLOWMAN - winner of the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Play and the 2004-05 New York Drama Critic's Circle Award for Best New Foreign Play - with preview performances beginning October 16 prior to an official press opening of October 20 at T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre (151 West 26th Street, 7th floor) in Manhattan.

Called a "spellbinding stunner of a play," by New York Times critic Ben Brantley, THE PILLOWMAN follows Katurian, a writer living in an unnamed totalitarian police state, as he is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a number of murders occurring in his town. Suspenseful and darkly comic, THE PILLOWMAN - not seen in Manhattan since it's Tony Nominated production in 2005 - is as USA Today critic, Elysa Gardner puts it, "the most brutal work yet from the celebrated author of 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane,' and also his most tender."

Directed by Peter Jensen, the cast of THE PILLOWMAN will feature Josh Marcantel ("Picasso at the Lapin Agile"), Don Carter ("My Dinner with Goethe"), Tommy Buck, Alexei Bondar ("Incendiary Agents"), Victoria Guthrie ("The Women of the Mahabharata"), Lance Olds ("Carnival!"), and Aliya Victoriya.

Design and production team for THE PILLOWMAN is D. Schuyler Burks (set design), Sherry Martinez (costume design), Andy Evan Cohen (sound design), Yuki Nakase (lighting design), Alex Carmine (props master), Nate Frieswyk (technical director), Becky Copley (assistant director), and Janet Bentley (producing director and dramaturg).

Peter Jensen's New York directing credits include "Incendiary Agents" at The Nylon Fusion Theatre Company, "The Glass Menagerie" at the Sanford Meisner Theatre, the New York premiere of the Canadian hit, "The Wild Guys," at the Miranda Theatre, "Home Free" and "Ludlow Fair" by Lanford Wilson and "Lunchtime" by Leonard Melfi. Directing credits at T. Schreiber include "Balm in Gilead" winner of the 2011 New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Production of a Play, "Joking Apart," "Hurlyburly ," "A Taste of Honey," "Marvin's Room," "You Can't Take It With You," "The Real Inspector Hound," "The Actor's Nightmare," "Fifth of July" and "Doubt."

T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre - under the direction of Artistic Director Terry Schreiber and co-Artistic Director Peter Jensen - has not only been presenting award-winning, fully staged theatre for New York City audiences, Off-Broadway since 1969; it has also been one of the preeminent theatre conservatories in the New York metropolitan region, helping actors such as Edward Norton, Peter Sarsgaard, and Annabella Sciorra to hone their craft. Some of T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre's past productions include: last season's world-premiere new musical "Jack's Back!," Lobby Hero," "Changing Room," "The Night of the Iguana," "Joking Apart," and many others.

Scheduled October 16 through November 24, THE PILLOWMAN will have a performance schedule of Wednesdays through Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm and Sundays at 3pm at T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre (151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor). General Admission tickets are $20 and can be purchased through OvationTix by calling 212.352.3101 or online at http://goo.gl/DJbpgo.
