Dixon Place has announced that Bob Morris, the award winning author, long time style & society contributor to the New York Times and New York Observer, and a regular commentator on NPR's All Things Considered will present a staged reading of his new play Glass House, on Monday, October 3rd at 7:30. The play focuses on Anthony and Abby who have recently moved from Brooklyn into a mid-century glass house in an affluent New York suburb. Anthony's idolization of the period and obsession with order surfaces while his persona (and marriage) begin to shatter as the couple set up the house.
Their new neighbors, Tad and Jane, suspect Anthony has a secret past - as a terrorist - and that the new couple just doesn't quite fit into the lily white town and they certainly are not qualified to join the restricted country club. In turn, Jane's own secrets are revealed during a cocktail-infused night flinging the two couple's relationship on a rapid descent beyond repair. Special "guest appearances" by renowned architect (and Nazi sympathizer) Philip Johnson as well as other famous architects and designers will offer 'commentary' on how style, substance, and organization affect our daily lives however, but the price may be too steep to bear.
The reading will be directed by Hal Brooks and feature Kim Howard, Fajer Al Kaisi, Rachel Feldman, Joe Pallister, and Tim Ranney.
The Dixon Place Lounge will open at 6PM before the show with a special Happy Hour and Mr. Morris will host a reception in the Lounge following the reading on the main stage.
