Juliette Jeffers' highly acclaimed two-act-tour-de-force, "BATMAN and ROBIN in the BOOGIE DOWN" has been lauded in both Dallas and Los Angeles where it enjoyed sold-out runs. Originally directed by Reggie Rock Bythewood, the New York production is being directed by Chuck Patterson.
The show which opened for a limited run on June 16 at the theatre at STAGE LEFT STUDIO (438 West 37th Street #5A) has been EXTENDED. It will now play through SATURDAY, AUGUST 14.
"BATMAN and ROBIN in the BOOGIE DOWN" is a touching and quirky biographical tale of two siblings. The acclaimed play chronicles their life and loss, from their exuberant childhood games as Batman and Robin, to the sudden passing of the older brother at the age of 33. In ACT I we see that the sister has become ill after her brother's death. She tries a myriad of alternative treatments from acupuncture to biofeedback to get better but nothing works. So she decides to go home to connect with her brother's spirit. In ACT II the brother comes back in spirit form to answer some of his beloved sister's questions and to give her some peace and closure. Both siblings tell their stories from their points of view through heart-wrenching and heart-warming flashbacks. It is a poignant story of two lives eternally intertwined with a multitude of vibrant characters from their shared past in the Bronx ... and beyond.
