Schedule Change Announced for The Athiest

Culture Project and Circle in the Square Theatre (Theodore Mann, Artistic Director and Paul Libin, Managing Director) have announced a schedule change for the hit dark comedy The Atheist, currently playing at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street). Beginning Friday, December 5, all Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 8:00 p.m. (currently scheduled at 9:00 p.m.). Weeknight performances remain at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees remain at 4:00 p.m. The solo-show, written by Ronan Noone, directed by Justin Waldman and starring Campbell Scott as ‘Augustine Early,' began performances on October 9, 2008 and runs through January 4, 2009.

In addition, a special schedule for New Year's week has been announced: Monday, December 29 at 8:00 p.m. (added performance), Tuesday, December 30 at 3:00 p.m. (added performance) & 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 1 at 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 2 at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3 at 4:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, January 4 at 4:00 p.m. (final performance).

In The Atheist, Scott plays a crooked reporter who will do anything to get his next front-page story. When Augustine turns a prominent local politician's tawdry predilections into front page news, the scandal threatens to undo the one person Augustine thought was immune - himself. The Atheist is a searing and hilarious play about catching the perfect front-page headline, whatever the cost.

The design team for The Atheist includes Ben Stanton (Lighting Design), Cristina Todesco (Set Design), Alex Neumann (Sound Design), Jessica Curtright (Costume Design) and Emily Ellen Roberts (Stage Manager).

The Atheist is performed every other week as follows: Tuesday - Thursday at 8:00 p.m., Friday at 9:00 p.m., Saturday at 4:00 p.m. & 9:00 p.m. and Sunday at 4:00 p.m. through December 4 and beginning December 5 will play Tuesday - Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 4:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are priced at $45 and are available by calling 212-352-3101 or visiting www.cultureproject.org. Student tickets ($2o) are available at the box-office. Culture Project at the Barrow Street Theatre is located at 27 Barrow Street at 7th Avenue. The running time of The Atheist is 1 hour, 40 minutes with an intermission.
