Jessica Hedrick was raised by a Feminist and a Communist: her mother and father, respectively.  From their heart-in-the-right-place teachings, she learned to disavow her femininity.  Her hilarious one-woman show, Sodomy and Pedicures, is about her journey into reclaiming her womanhood, an epiphany brought on by a sexually-greek Italian man who wants to invade her secret places.

It's a fascinating and delightful tour of her psyche, and Hedrick is a powerful performer.  There are a billion one-woman shows to wade through out there, and they're largely distinguished by the talents of the actress.  We follow her through her transformation as she imitates those people who were a part of her life.  An extended sequence where she channels her chain-smoking, wine-swigging, man-seducing friend Giselle is an especially hilarious section of the show.

I quite enjoyed the show and found myself wishing it wasn't over so soon.

Sodomy and Pedicures is running in the 11th Annual New York International Fringe Festival
