Simple Studios Hosts Audition Craft Clinic, 4/23

Simple Studios will host an audition clinic for all New York City actors on April 23rd. The clinic will be hosted by Debora Balardini and Sandie Luna.

This workshop draws from physically-based theatre techniques; including, but not limited to, Yoga, Choreographic Theatre, Viewpoints, Suzuki, Roy Hart Vocal Technique, Grotowski, and Heller.

This clinic is open to artists who are committed to improving their auditioning skills and/or learn to see the audition as a platform to develop their craft...an opportunity, not a hindrance. Levels are mixed but class is limited to 6 people to allow leaders to focus on each person.

Sandie Luna is an actress, director and producer. She is a member of the Directors Lab at IATI Theatre, has been a cast member of the off-Bdwy hit Platanos & Collard Greens for the last four years, has directed a one-woman show with residency at Mabou Mine; recently performed in Bauhaus the Bauhaus, at the Brooklyn Lyceum. Sandie bases her work on Suzuki and Viewpoints and applies it to interviewing skills, monologue, cold readings, instincts, imagination, confidence and presence.

Debora Balardini has been acting and dancing for over twenty years and is currently the Director of Education and Development for the East 3rd Productions. Along with developing a new solo show, she is also and avid researcher of body and movement for actors. Debora bases her work on Hatha Yoga, Grotowski, Choreographic Theatre and Roy Hart Vocal Technique, among other sources like Ideocinese and Heller Work.

Both Sandie and Debora are Co-Founders of the Nettles Artists Collective and also producers of the Annual PanNYC Workshop in collaboration with Pantheatre, Paris where legendary artists Enrique Pardo and Linda Wise conduct training for NY actors on Roy Hart Vocal Technique and Choreographic Theatre.

The clinic will take place on the 2nd floor of Simple Studios on April 23rd, beginning at 5:00pm. The cost of the clinic is $65. Those who wish to register may do so by emailing actorscraftworkshop@gmail.com or call 646.641.7353.
