Company is the next show to grace the SRMT: Student Run Musical Theatre stage this season.
The show centers around Bobby, a middle-aged bachelor living in New York City. The show begins on his 35th birthday, as Bobby takes us through all of the pros and cons of why he is not married, and whether or not he should ever enter into the sanctity. All of his friends have grown up, and represent all of the pros and cons for any marriage or relationship, making the material relevant to any audience member. The musical is presented in a fragmented format, meaning there is no definitive linear plot chronology; however this method of composition aids in the character development of the show, and offers the audience a more intimate and personal viewpoint of the characters.
SRMT was founded to give every Wagner College student equal performance opportunity, regardless of experience or major. In the fall of 2011, they were the first college theatre organization in the country to perform Next To Normal, after its debut on Broadway. The performance directed and musically directed by Wagner College students, will feature musicians from the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra.
This will be a two night engagement at Wagner College’s Performance Center on Staten Island, NY, with performances on April 27th & 28th at 8pm. Admission is completely FREE, and any contributions will be donated to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
