SING, HARLEM, SING! Comes to the Dempsey Theater Tonight

Sing, Harlem, Sing!, a musical revue created by Vy Higginsen and directed by Ken Wydro (the creative team behind the gospel musical Mama, I Want To Sing) will begin weekly performances at The Dempsey Theatre (127 W. 127th Street, between Lenox and 7th Avenues) tonight, April 28, 2012 at 8:00 p.m.

Sing, Harlem, Sing! celebrates the energy of one of the world’s most legendary neighborhoods as well as the soul-stirring power of the human voice. Sing, Harlem, Sing! features a soulful score that includes R&B, jazz, rock ‘n’ roll and gospel . . . Music from Saturday night and Sunday morning.

“An entertainment capital within the world’s greatest entertainment capital, Harlem’s music, culture and people are at the heart of this show,” says creator Vy Higginsen.

Sing, Harlem, Sing! previously played a limited run at The Dempsey Theater in the spring of 2009. The show originated at The Apollo Theater in Harlem in 2008, and a successful Japanese tour to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka followed.

The cast of Sing, Harlem, Sing! features Tyrone Flowers, Elijah Ahmad Lewis, Michael Liverpool, Vy Higginsen, Ahmaya Knoelle Higginson, Sandra Huff and Bettina Pennon.

Sing, Harlem, Sing!, produced by the Mama Foundation for the Arts, features musical direction by Greg Kelly.

Sing, Harlem, Sing! begins weekly performances on Saturday, April 28th at 8:00 p.m. at The Dempsey Theatre, located at 127 W. 127th Street (Subway: 2/3 to 125th Street and Lenox Avenue and walk two blocks, turn left at 127th Street). Tickets to Sing, Harlem, Sing! are $35 ($30 for students and seniors with valid ID) and available at Smartix.com (212-868-4444).
