SCOWL: Laddermageddon will be the second in a series of "Pay Per View," style events which utilize multimedia (Video packages and interviews) and live promos intended to build the drama, and inform backstory creating a sense of danger, combining the campy and over the top storytelling we expect from a long term professional wrestling show. SCOWL is a New York based stage combat oriented storytelling show with an emphasis on trans and queer performers. We are a queer, action-packed, live theatrical performance... with Steel chairs! We have performed using the SCOWL moniker in New York City, Cincinatti OH, and Detroit MI.

ASHLEY LAUREN ROGERS (Playwright, Producer, Performer) is an award winning writer and trans rights activist. Recently a Trans Theatre Lab fellow 2019, the Literary Director for Step1 Theatre Project, artist in residence at Middlesex County Vocational Technical School 2018-2019. Works performed at Dixon Place, MITF, the Brick, Joe's Pub and others. "Becky's Christmas Wish," was a finalist for the City Theatre National Short Play Award, Miami. Ashley's work has been produced in Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Maine, Iowa, New Jersey, Detroit, and Minneapolis and featured on Fusion TV's Peabody Award Nominated Sex.Right.Now, panels for Revry.TV. Nathan Oesterle (Director, Fight Choreographer) is a fight director with over 20 years experience in the industry. A gifted physical storyteller, Nathan is adept at many forms of combat and martial arts, with a specialization in tomahawk and axe work. Nathan began his career as an apprentice fight director with the Michigan chapter of Art of Combat. Since moving to New York in 2011, he has worked consistently in dozens of stage and film productions. In 2017 Nathan founded Stone and Steel Combat alongside his creative partner Patrick Harman. Their mission is to thrill audiences with daring violence rooted in storytelling while prioritizing the physical and mental safety of their actors. ZEYNEP AKCA (Co-Producer) is an interdisciplinary theatre artist from Istanbul, Turkey. She is a 2018 graduate of Baruch College and is currently working on her MA in Applied Theatre. She is currently working on developing new and reimagined works with fellow artists. In addition to working on SCOWL: Laddermageddon she produced "An Apology for The Course and Outcome of Certain Events Delivered by Doctor John Faustus on This His Final Evening". J. NGUYEN (Co-producer) is a seasoned producer and writer originally from New England. Nguyen is excited to be collaborating with such an amazing, dedicated, and talented team.
THE TANK is a non-profit arts presenter serving emerging artists engaged in the pursuit of new ideas and forms of expression. We serve over 2,000 artists every year in over 400 performances, and work across all disciplines, including theater, comedy, dance, film, music, public affairs, and storytelling. Our goal is to foster an environment of inclusiveness and remove the burden of cost from the creation of new work for artists launching their careers and experimenting within their art form. The heart of our services is providing free performance space in our 98-seat proscenium and 56-seat blackbox that we operate in Manhattan, and we also offer a suite of other services such as free rehearsal space, promotional support, artist fees, and much more. We keep ticket prices affordable and view our work as democratic, opening up both the creation and attendance of the arts to all.
