The Robert Chesley/Jane Chambers Playwrights Project (Kathleen Warnock, Curator) presents a FREE reading of Jane Chambers' "My Blue Heaven" tonight, January 26 at 7pm, in The Mitchell Room, ART/NY 520 8th Ave., 3rd fl.

Freelance writer Molly and her partner Josie leave the big city to lead the simple life in an upstate New York farmhouse. But they learn that life gets complicated when all you've got to focus on is each other-and the bills and the livestock! Jane Chambers's irresistible 1983 comedy is a nostalgic look back and a hopeful look forward ingeniously delivered in a theatrical time capsule.

The TOSOS Robert Chesley / Jane Chambers Playwrights Project is a forum for playwrights to have their work read to an invited audience. No staging. No Q and A. Just an opportunity to be heard. It is named to honor Jane Chambers (1937-83), and Robert Chesley (1943-90), arguably two of the most original and impassioned voices to contribute to the canon of GLBT theatre.

TOSOS ("The Other Side of Silence") is dedicated to preserving the theatrical heritage of the LGBT community through the development of new plays by emerging artists as well as revivals of established works. Our productions explore the unique LGBT experience and cultural sensibilities in a life-affirming and respectful way.

TOSOS was originally formed in 1974 by playwright Doric Wilson. During its five-year existence, this first TOSOS featured new plays and revivals by playwrights from Brendan Behan and Noel Coward to Terrence McNally, Robert Patrick, Martin Sherman, and Lanford Wilson.

Reborn in 2001, the new TOSOS annually stages Off-Off-Broadway productions of new or classic LGBT-themed plays, and develops new works every year through its Chesley / Chambers Playwright and Ethyl Eichelberger Solo Show Projects.
