Arin Arbus, associate artistic director of Theater for a New Audience, director of acclaimed productions of Othello, Measure for Measure, the upcoming Macbeth with John Douglas Thompson, and Jesse Berger, artistic director of Red Bull Theater and director of the upcoming The Witch of Edmonton, will discuss witches and witchery in Shakespeare and the Jacobeans, in a discussion led by Professor Jean Howard of Columbia University, whose books include "The Stage and Social Struggle in Early Modern England"; "Engendering a Nation: A Feminist Account of Shakespeare's English Histories," among others. Professor Howard is co-editor of "The Norton Shakespeare," the recipient of Guggenheim, Folger, and Newberry Library Fellowships, and she has also been President of the Shakespeare Association of America. She is working on two books: a study of the plays of the contemporary feminist dramatist, Caryl Churchill, and a book on Renaissance tragedy.
