"Right Time to Say I Love You"-a one-woman play that tackles the doubt, pain and conflict of caring for an elderly parent-will kick off the 2nd annual United Solo Theater Festival at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd St., New York, NY.
Written and performed by Cindy Wolfe Boynton, 43, of Milford, CT, the show is one of 77 local and international productions invited to take part in United Solo--the world's largest solo theatre festival. Based on Boynton's own experiences of taking care of her mother with advanced Parkinson's Disease, Right Time to Say I Love You powerfully and poignantly tackles the emotional and physical struggles of being a part of the "Sandwich Generation"-the 20 million Americans today sandwiched between taking care of young children and elderly parents. Directed by Reno Venturi of the Actor's Gym in Hamden, CT, Right Time to Say I Love You is Boynton's first play. This is the show's official synopsis: "Frozen in a moment of crisis, an emotionally and physically drained Cindy must choose: ignore the ringing telephone and get the sleep she so desperately needs, or make another late-night rush to help the ill mother who's never once said I love you."Videos
