Quick Silver Theater Company was founded in October 2014 by Tyrone Mitchell Henderson and co-founder Lizan Mitchell. QST is an ensemble of 13 actors. Parts of our mission include the fostering and promotion of actors and playwrights of color, thus changing the complexion of the theater-going audience one play at a time. Quick Silver Theater Company and Classics in Color: A Theatre Company recently co-produced the much talked about production of PROOF by David Auburn at Fourth Street Theatre.

Quick Silver Theater Company will now begin its new play development course of action entitled CITIZEN ONE READINGS. Its 'Citizen One' readings will investigate the impact of one citizen on a community and the force of change that develops as a result of that citizen's actions.

In November QST will do a reading of Thomas Brazzle's, TURNER PART 1. Thomas Brazzle, originally from Arlington, TX, is a recent MFA Graduate Actor from the University of Connecticut. He has spent time acting regionally at The Alley Theatre (Houston, TX), Portland Stage, Theater Squared (Fayetteville, AR), Connecticut Repertory Theatre and Shakespeare and Company. He made his New York stage debut this past summer as "Aaron the Moor" in TITUS ANDRONICUS with the Hudson Warehouse. This fall he is set to appear in The Brewing Dept.'s production of OTHELLO. His passion for writing stems from reading the great works of August Wilson, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Amiri Baraka and many others. He hopes, through his writing, to emulate the stories of those whose stories have been swept under the rug and kept from the eye of the world to experience.

'TURNER' is the first part of a two part saga telling the story of Nat Turner's rise and fall in 1830s Cross Keys, Virginia. After returning home with a message from God to set his people free and preach the word of repentance to his masters, Nat Turner must overcome his oppressors and his own personal aggressions towards them before the Day of Judgment comes. His love for friends, family and his masters will be tested as he walks the journey of a hero who has been made out in the history books to look like a deranged psychopathic villain hell bent on revenge. Turner through research and personal accounts tells the story of a dark time in Virginia and the United States from both sides of the equation, and begs us to ask the question, "Will we allow history to repeat itself?"

The reading of TURNER PART 1 will be directed by Quick Silver Theater Company founder, Tyrone Mitchell Henderson.

Quick Silver Theater Company will be hosting a Playwrights of Color Summit (POCS) in Geneva, New York during the summer of 2016. POCS will take place June 12th - June 19th, 2016 (Juneteenth). QST's Summit will bring together three new select playwrights, established directors, cast members, dramaturgs and the community of Geneva. Over the course of a week, the chosen plays will be developed into a staged reading. On the concluding Saturday, each play will be presented at separate times and locations. On Sunday, the attendees of the readings will be gathered and a talk back will take place. The immediate feedback from the community will be crucial to the playwrights as they continue to advance their work. The submission timeline is November 1st - December 1st, 2015. To submit your play to Quick Silver Theater Company, the guidelines are available on our website, www.QuickSilverTheater.com. Please note: There is a $20 submission fee and the deadline for submission is December 1st, 2015 at midnight.
