The company of thirteen all male performers present the dance of the malambo, a gaucho tradition (cowboys from the pampas). A genuine outlet that asks for dexterity and incomparable energy, Malambo captures everything in its path, leaving the audience astounded (and exhausted!). This group has created the first and most unique performance in the world of Malambo, bringing the strength and the power of a horse in full gallop, the grace and spirit of Argentine dancers, and the beauty of a free spirit.
The dancers stomp their heeled boots or their bare feet on the roughly treated floor, keeping the rhythm with the bombo - a drum made of wood and hide, and hold and turn the boleados - originally 2 or 3 leather straps full of stones. They are not simply folk dancing; these well-trained dancers have a strong technique that allows for very physical sequences. Originally, the Malambo is an individual dance, exclusively masculine. Two men face to face defining the rhythms, confronting each other in a rhythmic duel of zapateado - stomping their feet competitively and fiercely until one of them gamely declares defeat.
Featuring Marcos Beierbach, Fransisco Ciares, Nicolas Correa, Claudio Diaz, Miguel Flores, Federico Gareis, Guillermo Gomez, Juan Gomez, Walter Kochanovski, Fabian Maza, Paulo Pedernera, Alberto Ruiz and Pablo Tuoron.
The production features costume and lighting design by Heyoka with contemporary adaptation and composition by Gilles Brinas & Fabian Maza. Sylvie Peron is the Artistic Director. Artistic & Production Agent is Stephane Fournial, 6 Prime Agency. CHE MALAMBO schedule: Saturday, November 16th at 2pm and 8pm Sunday, November 17th at 3pm
