Puppetworks has announced the spring/summer presentation in its Brooklyn theatre: A marionette presentation of Rudyard Kipling's 1893-94 Fables of India, "The Jungle Book."

Adapted by Puppetworks' artistic director, Nicolas Coppola, with Adam Kilgour, "The Jungle Book" tells the tale of Mowgli, a little boy lost in the jungle of India and adopted by a family of wolves. Hunted by Shere Khan, a fierce bengal tiger, Mowgli is taught the laws of the jungle by his teacher, Baloo, a brown bear. Some of Mowgli's adventures involve Kikki and Tikk - The Monkey Folk, Nag - the cobra, and Hathi - the elephant. Puppetworks' production features an original song score with scenery and costumes based on authentic motifs of India.

"The Jungle Book" is recommended for ages 4 and up, and will perform on Saturdays and Sundays May 5 through August 19, 2012 a 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. at Puppetworks - Park Slope, located at 338 Sixth Avenue (at 4th Street) in Brooklyn, N.Y. Admission: Children $7, Adults $8, Groups of 20 or more $6 each. For reservations, call (718) 965-3391 or visit www.puppetworks.org.
