Prospect Theater Company presents a developmental performance of new works by some of NYC's emerging musical theater writers, the result of works created in the company's 5th annual musical theater lab.

The seven participating writing teams were selected through a competitive, open application process. In December, each team was randomly assigned a topic on which to create a short musical, and these pieces were then workshopped during January. Described as "at once deeply personal and profoundly universal, RITES OF PASSAGE explores the ceremonies of everyday life that become iconic of our human experience."

The remaining performances are: 8pm, Sat. Feb. 18 at 1pm, Sun. Feb. 19 at 8pm, and Mon. Feb. 20 at 8pm.

RITES OF PASSAGE will be performed at the West End Theatre in the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew (263 West 86th St.). Tickets are $18 and may be purchased by calling 212-352-3101 or by visiting www.ProspectTheater.org. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door, beginning one hour prior to curtain.

The program features short original musicals written by Sam Carner & Derek Gregor, Michael Cooper & Hyeyoung Kim, Cheryl L. Davis & Cody Owen Stine, J. Sebastian Fabal, Timothy Huang, Laura Kleinbaum & Max Mamon, and Janine Nabers & Sharon Kenny.

RITES OF PASSAGE is directed by Prospect's Associate Artistic Director, Dev Bondarin, and music
directed by Daniel Feyer. The cast includes Prospect alumni Starr Busby (Evergreen), Ryan Dietz
(Illyria), David Foley Jr. (Evergreen, The Book of the Dun Cow), Kathryn Holtkamp (The Dome), Anita Vasan (Evergreen) and Daniel Yates (The Pursuit of Persephone) and company newcomer Hansel Tan. Stage Management is by Amy Francis Schott. Nick Brennan is the Lab Associate, and the
project was curated by Dev Bondarin and Cara Reichel.
