This July, Prospect Theater Company (Cara Reichel, Producing Artistic Director / Melissa Huber, Managing Director) expands on their education initiative for musical theater students aged 12-17. Beginning Monday, July 11 and running through Saturday, July 30, selected students will participate in a daily musical theater training program from 10am-6pm (Sundays off).

Under the guidance of program director Rachel Dart, classes will be held in midtown Manhattan, and the program will culminate with a Showcase Presentation at Theatre Row on 42nd St. In keeping with Prospect Theater Company's mission to support the next generation of musical theater artists, this summer program will be an opportunity for young performers with a passion for musicals to build their performance skills by working directly with Prospect artists. During the course of the three-week program, participants will work with a professional stage director and music director to rehearse and present a new musical revue, premiering original songs and monologues written expressly for young people by some of New York's most exciting emerging composers and lyricists.

In addition to showcase performances July 28 - 30 at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops and coaching sessions, as well as master classes with guest artists and Broadway performers, to deepen general knowledge of theatre practice, strengthen vocal and acting technique, and enhance overall confidence.

Admission to the program is by audition only. To schedule an audition, or for more information, please email Summer@ProspectTheater.org or call 212-594-4476. Participant tuition for the 3-week program is $850 per student. A limited number of full or partial scholarships are available to accepted students in need of assistance, through the generosity of the Ford Foundation.

Prospect Theater Company was founded in 1998 by five graduates of Princeton University. Over the past decade, Prospect has premiered more than thirty new American musicals, including With Glee, Illyria, Evergreen, The Tutor, and The Blue Flower and is the artistic home of Award-winning writer Peter Mills (2010 Kleban Award for lyrics, 2008 Fred Ebb Award, 2002 Jonathan Larson Award, www.pcmills.com) and Cara Reichel (Prospect's Producing Artistic Director, 2002 Lucille Lortel Award, www.carareichel.com).
