Broadway and Off-Broadway producer Ken Davenport (author of the popular blog, www.TheProducersPerspective.com) will present the first selection of THE DAVENPORT DEVELOPMENTAL READING SERIES, four readings of new works (plays and/or musicals) on Monday, March 15th at the Producer's Club (358 West 44th Street, between Eighth & Ninth Avenues).
The inaugural selection is AMELIA, a romantic drama chronicling one woman's desperate search for her husband through the battlefields of Civil War America, transforming her from farm girl to Union soldier. Under the direction of Robert Richmond, the March 15th presentation of AMELIA will be performed by Alex Webb and Shirleyann Kaladjian.
Davenport explains, "It amazes me how many passionate writers are out there in the world. Every day, scripts are submitted to us from hopeful writers who have committed their idea to paper, and now want to share it with as many people as possible. I have been brainstorming all year on how to thank everyone for their submissions and offer some sort of props for their passion to the process of creating theater. After much deliberation, I decided that what writers really want, even more than money, is to have their work performed in front of an audience. So, I started THE DAVENPORT THEATRICAL DEVELOPMENTAL READING SERIES to do just that."
Information regarding submissions for the three remaining reading slots in the series can be found at www.davenporttheatrical.com.
The readings will take place at 8 PM on Monday, March 15th for AMELIA and on the following dates for the three remaining slots: Monday, June 14th; Monday, September 13th; and Monday, December 13th.
Seating is limited. To make a reservation please email RSVP@davenporttheatrical.com.
