It's one of the most popular tourist attractions of the future: a live holographic stage show featuring representations of the 50th through 80th Presidents of the United States of America (and Related Properties). It's as if they're really right there in the room with you – everyone from Lushious Hollywood, our first stripper president, all the way to the beloved cloud of sentient chlorine gas known to 23rd-century voters as Kllhhlhllhllhhhha. In a quaint format hearkening back to the animatronic displays of bygone times, The Hall of Virtual Presidents brings the unexpected twists and turns of the long, long history of American democracy to vivid life, with all 30 late-period presidents appearing simultaneously before your very eyes!
Part performance installation, part speculative history pageant and part sci-fi spectacle, The Hall of Virtual Presidents is the latest theatrical experiment from the creators of Craven Monkey and the Mountain of Fury and Theater of the Arcade: Five Classic Video Games Adapted for the Stage. The half-hour performance will feature more than 30 actors and play several times over the course of a single day, offering a satirical look at the future of America and allowing audiences to mingle with "holographic" representations of presidents-to-be.
The Hall of Virtual Presidents will perform as part of DEMOCRACY, a theater festival devoted to themes of U.S. politics, at The Brick Theater (575 Metropolitan Avenue between Union and Lorimer Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn). Performances will be Saturday, June 9,at 3pm, 4pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm.
Tickets to all shows ($10) may be purchased at www.bricktheater.com or by calling 212-868-4444.
