PIECE Theatre makes their NYC Premiere performing Josiah Houston's CRACKED (upon a time) at Theaterlab October 13th - 22nd, 2011.

Stretching the boundaries of absurdist comedy by exploring the tragedies of limitation, Houston's CRACKED (upon a time) is a simple story about the complexities of language and those who speak it. As two ancient companions sit at the foot of a graveyard, their potent ramblings and hysterical bickering discuss memory, illusion, love, luck, fear, trust, choices to be made, time to be passed, and the desire to avoid ending before they conclude that Everyman must go through life on his own.

Written by emerging playwright Josiah Houston, this show marks his first NYC premiere at Theaterlab with PIECE Theatre. A critically acclaimed performance poet in his youth (as seen on CBS 60 Minutes), Josiah Houston transitioned to theatre first as an actor, and then as an award winning dramaturg, before he embarked upon a five year walk-about as a vagabond education volunteer specializing in applied theatre. During his travels, Josiah collected stories from South Africa to the South Pacific. He returned home a playwright.

The cast of CRACKED (upon a time) includes PIECE Theatre & Living Theatre ensemble member and NYC resident Brent Wellington Barker III as Alfred; as well as The Stella Adler Studio of Acting graduate and NYC resident Zebedee J Row as Percy.

Presented and Produced by PIECE Theatre, the production team includes: Anthony Williams (producer) Josiah Houston (director), Dean Palmer Jr. (Lighting designer), and Michael Vincent Skinner (Sound designer).

CRACKED (upon a time) plays at Theaterlab between October 13th - 22nd, Thurs - Sat at 8 PM. Theaterlab is located at 137 West 14th St, NYC. Admission is $15 for the general public. To purchase tickets or for more information please call (866-811-4111) or visit theatreinpieces.org.
