Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW presented MAJOR BARBARA- George Bernard Shaw's irreverent comedy of just about everything on Monday, May 24 at The Players Club.

Gingold Theatrical Group, which made history last December as the first company ever to present every play (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches) written by George Bernard Shaw - continues its fifth year of PROJECT SHAW with MAJOR BARBARA, Shaw's irreverent take on just about everything, on Monday, May 24 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produces and directs.

In MAJOR BARBARA, Lady Britomart (Maryann Plunkett) is determined to marry off her children, including the noble Salvation Army Major, Barbara (Krysta Rodriguez), and get them out of the house. This means reuniting with her estranged husband (Daniel Davis), a notorious arms manufacturer and one of the world's wealthiest men. What ensues is a mad comedy in which the many characters battle their way through issues of war, wealth, women's rights, religion, and a distinctly off-kilter view of "family values." It was this play that finally brought Shaw public respect as a playwright, and this was after he'd already written MAN AND SUPERMAN, ARMS AND THE MAN, CANDIDA, and MRS. WARREN'S PROFESSION.

MAJOR BARBARA featured Ellen Adair, John Bolton (CURTAINS), Sidney J. Burgoyne, Daniel Davis (LA CAGE AUX FOLLES), Adam Greer (Mary Stuart), Suzanne Grodner (BYE BYE BIRDIE), Lianne Kressin, Maryann Plunkett (Tony Award-winner for ME & MY GIRL), Krysta Rodriguez (THE ADDAMS FAMILY), Jay Rogers, Brian Sgambati (THE COAST OF UTOPIA), Lindsay Torrey, Jon Patrick Walker (HIGH FIDELITY), and Lenny Wolpe (THE DROWSY CHAPERONE). New York Times reporter Patrick Healy hosted the evening.
