On July 27th The Little Secret Theatre closed its doors after an amazing 6 years. The Little Secret was the first performance space that we built at The Secret Theatre. The inception and creation of what is currently 4 spaces that represent the largest independent theatre complex in Queens and one of the largest off off theatre groups in NYC.

The Secret Theatre has announcdd, however, that the new Little Secret Theatre will be opening in just two weeks. This new space will open with the UNFringed Theatre Festival on August 15th, and will take over as the home for The Secret Children's Theatre's weekly performances, and more of the exciting programming The Secret Theatre brings to Long Island City.

The simultaneous demolition and rebuild was a surprise for the Secret Theatre. Due to Department of Buildings regulations the landlord must alter the structure of the ground floor of the complex containing The Secret Theatre's four spaces. There was no choice but to move The Little Secret Theatre out of its current space, and into a new adjacent section of the building.

Artistic Director, Richard Mazda, had this to say about the change: "The new Little Secret theatre will rise like a phoenix in a new position just steps away from our current place. It's a very exciting prospect for us since we now can welcome customers to the space with our own dedicated entrance."

The new street entrance on 23rd, means that The Secret Theatre won't be quite so secret any longer. As the brand new space opens on August 15th it will bring with it the new UNFringed Theatre Festival full of brand new plays. August is a month of big change and fresh theatre at The Secret. The new Little Secret Theatre is a happy surprise, as The Secret Theatre continues to grow and to bring the best in the performing arts to Long Island City.
