Photo Flash: Michael Long's DETAILS Wins Week One of 6th Annual Boo! Players Theatre Short Play Festival

The Players Theatre Short Play Festival - Boo! has announced that Michael Long's short horror play, Details, is the winner of the sixth annual October festival. A best of the week winner is chosen by audience vote for this three week festival. Scroll down for photos!

Playwrights from all over the country submitted their plays earlier this year. The festival panel selected 12 plays for presentation. The playwrights are responsible for their own production and act as producer for their piece. Many of the playwrights have participated in other festivals at the Players Theatre and several were award winners in past years. Artistic Director, Brenda Bell, commented "The horror genre is one of my favorite themes but it is undoubtedly the most difficult to write and produce. This year's festival features some very dark pieces balanced with a few spook-spoofs to offer a bit of relief".

This is the fifth win for playwright, Michael Long, whose previous SPF award-winning plays include: Catchpole, Hostages, Brad Pitt, and The Test. Mr. Long is currently in talks to develop a musical, and is at work on a commissioned screenplay. Details is about a struggling couple who investigates a disturbance in their basement only to discover a deeper disturbance in their marriage. The production was directed by Sharifa Williams and the talented cast included: Dan Moldovan as Raymond and Alexandra Vaccino as Martha.

SPF: The Players Theatre Short Play and Musical Festival is Tri-annual festival that features short works based on a specific theme from a variety of playwrights as well as New York City directors and Actors. Plays are chosen through a selection process for each festival. Festivals take place in February (Sex! is the theme), June (NYC theme) and October (Boo! A horror theme).

Boo! runs at the Players Theatre, Steve and Marie Sgouros Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street, NYC through October 30th. Show times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7p and Sunday at 2p.
