What Dreams May Co., in association with Queens Shakespeare Inc., presents Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare, directed By Chris Rivera, running tonight, December 4-20, 2014. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the cast!
"These violent delights have violent ends, And in their Triumph die, like fire and powder, Which as they kiss consume."
After receiving praise from audiences and critics alike for their smash hit season opener Much Ado About Nothing, What Dreams May Co Shakespeare continues their exploration into the dangers and the delights of love. It's risks, it's rewards, it's passion and it's price. Join us for the finale of our 2014 season as we bring to life this timeless couple whose tale embodies all these qualities with uproarious laughter, with unrestrained joy, and with unfathomable sorrow.
Director Chris Rivera brings literatures most famous and most tragic pair of star-crossed lovers into a gritty modern fantasy. Audiences will find themselves pulled into a world where religion turns the pages, family politics pulls the strings, and lives lived by the sword...are ended by it.
The set design will feature paintings by acclaimed multimedia artist Matthew Emerson which will enhance the feeling of being pulled into the storybook. All artwork featured will be auctioned throughout the course of the production and 75 percent of all proceeds will benefit Trinity Place Shelter for homeless LGBT youth.
