The Playwriting Collective, in association with HERE Arts Center, present Joshua Young's WHO MOURNS FOR BOB THE GOON?, directed by Lucia Bellini. Currently playing at HERE Arts Center, located at 145 6th Ave. (enter on Dominick, 1 Block South of Spring). BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

This production is a part of SubletSeries@HERE: a curated rental program, which provides artists with subsidized space and equipment, as well as technical support. Performances began Wed, July 20 and continue through Sat, August 13, 2016. Opening Night is Thursday, July 28th at 8:30 pm.

Starring John Carhart (Hairspray - original film), Jolynn Carpenter, Phillip Christian* (A Streetcar Named Desire at Yale Rep), Alicia Goranson* (Roseanne; Boys Don't Cry; Love, Loss, and What I Wore), Lagina Hill, Matt Mingle, and Alex Teachey.

Bob believes he is the Joker Henchman from the '89 Batman, Bob The Goon, and no one in his PTSD therapy group can convince him otherwise. The reason--the veterans in this special group also believe they are, or were, third tier comic book characters--the less heroic and most obscure. All begins to unravel when an ex-pilot, Langly, joins despite her belief that she is from the anime world, not a comic.

Who Mourns for Bob the Goon? uses projections to create the worlds of the play. In one moment the audience could be in a real world, amusement park setting and then transform into a fantastical realm such as "The Spectre's Realm" which the character Jim thinks he inhabits.

The production features set and puppet design by Obie award-winning artist James Ortiz (The Woodsman), costume design by Jenny O'Donnell, lighting design by Miriam Crowe, and projection/video design by Joshua Young (IATSE, Video 100 Years of Post MoMA Film Exhibition 2015, Guggenheim's Works In Process: Rafael Lozano-Hemmer - Project Levels of Nothingness, Karole Armitage's The Blue Rider in Performance, Robert Wilson's Watermill Quintet, Phillip Glass' Icarus at The Edge of Time). Laura Ramadei is the general manager, Angela Perez* is the production stage manager. With illustrations by Nicholas Suders and Rudy Agresta.

Tickets are $20.00: visit here.org or call 212-352-3101. HERE Arts Center is located at 145 6th Avenue (enter on Dominick, 1 Block South of Spring), New York, NY 10013. Running Time: 2 hours, with one 10 minute intermission. For more about the show, go to www.whomournsforbobthegoon.com.
