Phoenix Theatre Ensemble, a resident theatre ensemble now in its 7th
season, announces that on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:30 pm it will begin concert reading performances of Brecht's "A Man's A Man." It will then have 2 additional matinee performances on Saturday, November 20 at 3:00 pm and Sunday, November 21 at 3:00 pm at The Wild Project at 195 East 3rd Street.

"A MAN'S A MAN," is set in 1925 in a Kiplingesque India and concerns a metamorphosis-how a simple civilian man who cannot say "no" is changed into a ruthless soldier.

Eric Bentley's translation/adaptation of Brecht's "A MAN'S A MAN" incorporates several songs by composer Arnold Black. The cast will feature Brian A. Costello, Ariel Estrada, Amy Fitts, Kelli Holsopple, Joseph J. Menino, Grant Neale, Laura Piquado, Elise Stone, Josh Tyson, and Anthony Willis, Jr.  The director is Amy Wagner and the music director is Ellen Mandel

All performances will be at THE WILD PROJECT in the heart of New York's East Village at 195 East 3rd Street, the renovated 99-seat "green" theatre with eco-friendly features including recycled glass tiles, bamboo plywood, low flush toilets, rooftop solar panels and energy-efficient glass windows.
