Partly Cloudy People Opens Revival of TIGERS BE STILL Tonight

Partly Cloudy People has announced its production of Kim Rosenstock's Tigers Be Still, directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh. Tigers Be Still will play a three-week limited engagement at the DRILLING COMPANY THEATER (236 West 78 Street, Floor 3). Performances begin tonight, May 9 and continue through Saturday, May 25. Opening night is tonight, May 9 (8 pm).

Tigers Be Still is a hilarious, touching and deliciously dark comedy critically acclaimed by NY Times as "Piercing, Ferocious, and Devastatingly Hilarious." Sherry Wickman has just completed her masters in art therapy and she thinks all her dreams are about to come true. Instead, she finds herself unemployed hiding under the covers of her childhood bed most days. But when Sherry lands her first job as an art teacher in a local school, her future looks a bit sunnier. Now if only her mother would get out of bed, her sister would abandon the bottle of Jack she cradles incessantly, her first therapy patient would stop stealing, her new boss would leave his gun at home and someone would catch the prowling tiger that escaped from the local zoo, life would be great and dare she say, normal.

Tigers Be Still will serve as an awareness campaign and fundraiser for The Ackerman Institute for The Family.

The production features set design by Jason Ardizzonne-West, costume design by Beth Goldenberg, light design by Mike Inwood, and sound design by Emma Wilk.

Tigers Be Still plays the following schedule through Saturday, May 25: May 9-11 at 8pm; May 12 at 3 pm; May 17-18 at 8 pm; May 19 at 3 pm May 22-25 at 8 pm

Kim Rosenstock (Playwright) Plays include 99 Ways to F@%k a Swan, and Bride*Widow*Hag. In addition, she conceived and co-wrote the musical Fly By Night. She is currently working on a new musical with singer- songwriter Shaina Taub for Oregon Shakespeare Festival, as well as working on commissions for Roundabout Theater, Dallas Theater Center and Ars Nova where she was the 2011 playwright-in-residence and a member of the writers group, Play Group. She is a graduate of Amherst College where she first began writing plays under the mentorship of Constance Congdon. She subsequently earned her MFA in playwriting at Yale School of Drama. She is originally from Baldwin, Long Island and currently lives in Los Angeles where she is a writer for the television show, "New Girl."

Phillip Chavira (Producer) Phillip recently worked with the Vice President and General Manager at Davenport Theatrical (Avenue Q, Godspell, Chinglish, Speed-the-Plow). He is an MBA candidate and the Vice President of Communications for the Black and Hispanic MBA Association at Fordham University Business School. He is studying management and finance, concentrating on marketing and public relations. Phillip was the Company Manager for UnsungMusicalsCo's At Home Abroad, starring Bruce Villanch, and worked with UMC on Make Mine Manhattan, Nothing is Forever, and Gatsby staring Matt Cavenaugh. Phillip has worked with Identity Theater Company to produce reading series and children's theater tours in NYC. He recently worked with writer June Rachelson-Ospa and composer Daniel Neiden on Welcome to Tourettaville, originally produced by Rachelson-Ospa at the Kennedy Center in D.C. Phillip worked with Identity to also produce Cinderella-an adaptation. Other theater credits include Production Assistant and House Manager with Soho Rep (Elective Affinities with Zoe Caldwell, Born Bad), and Resident Stage Manager with Nico's Spoon Theater for two seasons. Phillip was Program Director and Musical Director for four seasons at Kamp Kaleidoscope at LimeLight Productions, Inc in Arizona.

She has performed in numerous productions with Josh Fox's International WOW Co., originated the role of Jane Fairfax in Michael Bloom's adaptation of Emma and starred in the Journeyman Pictures production, Memorial Day. She originated the role of Natalie in the world premiere of, Fashionistas and appeared in Anne Coburn's award winning comedic short, Pretty All the Time. Television appearances include All My Children and Bonnie Hood in Discovery ID's, My Dirty Little Secret.
