A Brief Summary:
Set in the dying days of the Roman Empire, "The Minervae" tells the story of one mythological goddess who refuses to move over for the fashionable new "cult" of Christianity. Jilted, Minerva sets out to reconvert the converted. Standing in her way are the schemes of the other Olympians: bitter Vulcan, volatile Mars, ambitious Apollo, and the enigmatic Diana. It's a titanic clash of faith vs. revelation, with mortal Man caught in between.

The reading will be directed by Dev Bondarin (MT Works, Gallery Players, as well as Special Projects Manager & Associate Artist with Prospect Theatre Company). The cast features the talents of Ugo Anyanwu (Good Woman of Setzuan, Adaptive Arts Theatre Prods.),
Rob Benson (In Your Image, 59E59), Charles Andrew Callaghan* (Alkestis, SoHo Playhouse), Colleen Horan (Taking Liberties, DMTheatrics), Christopher Kloko (Henry V, Drilling Company), Jackie LaVanway (Midsummer Night's Dream, On The Square Prods), Rachel McPhee* (Vieux Carre, The Pearl Theatre), Marnie Schulenburg* (daytime Emmy nominee - As the World Turns; South Pacific, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival), Lavita Shaurice* (Charlotte Cushman Award for Outstanding Leading Actress nominee - My Wonderful Day, The Wilma Theater) & Michael Swartz ( In Fields Where They Lay, The Dreamscape Theatre Company).

On the Square Productions believes that vibrant and dynamic theatre can be experienced wherever there are fresh ideas and a desire to bring them to life. Our primary mission is to seek out and produce original work by contemporary playwrights with meaningful stories to tell. Always encouraging engagement with the written word, we strive to bring theatre to new audiences through developmental play readings, educational outreach, and site-specific productions through out Astoria and Manhattan.
